Taiko Team Building
For most, playing taiko is a completely new experience, providing a level playing field where each member of the team can gain a new appreciation for their own strengths and the strengths of other teammates. The hands-on fun enhances communication and listening skills, which, in turn enhance your program operations. As one participant commented, “How to become a team in just an hour and a half!”
Mindfulness teaches us to pause, to pay attention to what is happening in our bodies and around us, and to make more thoughtful decisions. The foundation of this awareness and power is the breath. Taiko is an effective path for people of all ages to connect with their breath, and apply that awareness to action. As one 5th grade Taiko Mind student said, “I learned that I actually CAN be patient!”
Big Drum Culture
In this entertaining and informative hour-long lecture demo, audience members learn about the history and culture of taiko. The journey from ancient Japan to present-day North America is illustrated by performances of traditional and modern songs.
